Every time you train, you create small tears in your muscle fibers. This is a good thingāitās how your muscles grow stronger. But the actual repair and growth happen when you rest, not when youāre pushing through those reps or sprinting that extra mile. Without sufficient recovery, your body canāt rebuild effectively, which can lead to overtraining, burnout, and even injury.
Rest isnāt just about skipping a workout. It encompasses active recovery (like a gentle walk or light stretching), proper sleep, hydration, and nutrition. Sleep, in particular, is crucial. Aim for 7-9 hours of quality sleep each night, especially on days when youāve had intense workouts.
